30 YEARS of PRINTMAKING
A Retrospective Exhibition.
Images of Derbyshire, Cornwall, Australia and Greece

Rosalind Forster well known for her lino cuts and lithographs has produced a large body of work over the last thirty years.
For this exhibition whilst selecting work she has taken a journey back to places visited, lived in and loved. Her sense of joy in her observations is evident throughout her work, from the early hand coloured black and white linocuts to the more complex reduction process ones printed in up to 16 colours.

Spirit of place is evoked in the images of a remote Cornish farmhouse frequently visited in the early 1980s.
Regular visits to Australia later in that decade provided her with  exciting new motives in that country s unique and strange flora. The graphic quality of linocutting  was particularly suitable  for their depiction.. She was unknowingly following in an earlier tradition of female printmakers and had many successful exhibitions there.

Lithographs commissioned by CCA Galleries captured the more delicate quality of her floral watercolours.
In 1989 she was commissioned to paint in Greece and fell in love with a small island where she continues to live and paint part of the year. The  wonderful clarity of the light.
brighter colours, shadows ,sunlit doorways and floral still lifes are the subject matter of the Greek prints.

Derbyshire ,where she has  print workshop still provides ample inspiration.
Its lush green landscapes in complete contrast to the Greek works. In fact whilst working for a previous themed exhibition she fell in love all over again with the county.

This exhibition is a rare chance to see work that has not been shown for many years with last available copies and prints from the artists own collection.
