2010 Christmas in Spetses

Dimotiko School Christmas Village on the Dapia. 11/12 December 2010. The Dimotiko School of Spetses (local primary school) organised another Christmas Village Bazaar just behind the Dapia. Weeks of preparation were needed, whilst volunteers made local handicrafts with Christmas themes.
Food and drink including cakes, biscuits and local seasonal specialities were on sale with plenty of entertainment to eat and drink to. School children sang and danced and lined up to see Father Christmas and a magic show, which was all in all, very successful.Santa and Elf in Santa' Village

On the Saturday a little train (usually in action in the town of Nafplion) chuffed both children and adults up and down from the Dapia to the old harbour and then back to the college, in a chilly 5 degrees (forcing locals to wear woolly hats an scarves for the first time since last winter!) Christmas face painting proved really popular, as children queued to sport reindeer and snowmen faces.
Christmas Carols at the Poseidonion 5pm 19 December 2010
Groups of local adults and children congregated at the Poseidonion Square to sing a mixture of Greek, English, French, Italian and German carols that they had been practising for the last week or so. Accompanied by Ms Laura Skarmoutsou on piano and Melissa Bratopoulou on violin, they sang to a large audience and started off the Christmas week with festive spirit.
