Fauna

Caretta Caretta - The Loggerhead Turtle

The Loggerhead is the most common sea turtle in Greece and the Mediterranean. The colour of the upper shell (carapace) is brownish with a dark yellow plastron (underside of the shell). Quite often barnacles are found stuck to the shell. It is not known whether barnacles are pests or if they benefit the turtles somehow.

Small White butterfly

These are similar to the Large White except are smaller in size. They are to be found all throughout Europe up to 2000m. They are common everywhere and can often be seen in great numbers. Their flight period is from mid-March to October and they have from two to four broods.

Squirmers

Here, on our otherwise wonderful island, we have a few small details that may upset you, worry you, or even make you scream!   But don't fret - here's how to handle them (or just get away from them!)
