Anastasios (Tassos) Mavromichalis - Personality in Spetses Greece

Where do you live on Spetses? With family, animals or alone? Up at Ayios Konstantinos with my wife Marylin and my 5 children: 4 boys - Stavros (Steven). Aged 20. Dimitris (James). Aged 19. Karalos (Charlie). Aged 16. Antonis (Doni). Aged 12 and my one daughter, Erene aged 10.

Present or past occupation: Bar owner, restaurant owner and nightclub owner. I ran the famous Rendezvous bar on the seafront at Ayios Mamas from 1979 to 1990. I was known to my English clientele as ‘Prince Charlie’! I was also President of the Spetses Businessman’s Association for many years.

Where are you to be found most of the time? Usually in the old harbour or on the Dapia…in fact anywhere where there is political conversation or a debate on tourism.

Which Spetses beach do you prefer? All the beaches have clean, blue and beautiful waters, so they are all my favourites.

What's your favourite view of Spetses? The views of the Peloponnese mainland and the islands of Hydra, Dokos and Trikeri.

Which time of year or season best suits you on Spetses - why? The seasons of Spring, Summer and Winter. Autumn usually makes me feel melancholy as the summer is over.

Where would you choose to live if not Spetses? Anywhere beautiful that relies on tourism.

If you could start your life again, what career would you choose? A revolutionary, in the best sense of the word - fighting for justice.

Which country of those you have visited, impressed you the most (other than Greece!)? England - where their perfect system protects the country and its citizens. However, I think that a greater understanding of life elsewhere in a historical context should be taught and learned.

Do you have any hobbies/pastimes? Political analysis.

What's your favourite traditional Greek dish? Moussaka and Greek salad.

Who would you choose to headline the next Armata celebrations? Dalaras and Faradouri.

Where would you take a friend on a one day visit to Spetses? All over the island to please my guest and to make sure that he/she comes back again.

What, in your view, is the best part about life on Spetses? You can find whatever you want - it offers everything for all tastes at any time. It is a very relaxing life although at the same time - never monotonous!
