ALL IN THE FAMILY

Even though I have never been to Spetses, I do hope to get there in the future. I was very pleased to see the feature of adding a blog. I have family from the Island, but only met in the last few years. My grandfather was Georgios Thymaras, son of Dimitri and Stamatina. He immigrated to the United States and was about to return to Greece when he died. There were eight children born to George and Pearl, but only one now remains alive. The last one dying in December 2010. I wanted to create this blog in their memory. Because none of the American Thymaras family members ever met family till just a few years ago, it has been a real treat to get to know them. I would really like to hear from other members of the family or friends of our family.

From Lynne Mitchell (Now Daly)

Hi I lived and worked in Spetses from March 1980 until August 1985. The first few years for Airlink. I was with Stavros who owned the Pithion Bar...I know so many of the names on this site. I can't believe it! What great times we all used to have (and a few angst ridden ones too!) I often think about those times and wonder what happened to everyone. I still get a letter and Christmas card from Bodil from Lazarous Taverna who still lives there.

Honeymoon

In 1982 my husband Kevin and I spent our Honeymoon at the Roumani Hotel on Speses Harbour unfortunatly we have never returned to the Island. Next year is our 30th Wedding Anniversary and we would like to return to Speses to celebrate. Funds are limited, any suggestions of accomodation that may be suitable? J & K

Missing Spetses

Hi, my name is Gary Wiles and I have been visiting Spetses since about 1976, mostly with my partner Julie from 1989 onwards. We have stayed at several places including Kalomira, Valia, Varlamis and Zoe's. However, we haven't been back since 2005 and would like to come again next summer. Our favourite watering holes were Bar Spetsa and the Balcony. Although the spetsesdirect website is great, we would love to hear from anybody who can give us an update on what's happening, is it still relatively expensive etc etc Yassas, Gary & Julie.

Spetses Summer 2011

What I really miss today is our holiday on the island of Spetses .. The beautiful sandy beaches where you drink ice coffee and feel the warm Mediterranean breeze on the body .. I miss the evening walks around the winding streets, meze at the old port and loukoumades at Alfie's, a nice ride in a horse carriage around the town and much much more .. http://mygreecemysweden.blogspot.com/
