Dimitra Moriatis known as 'Mimika' - Personality on Spetses Island Greece

Where do you live on Spetses? I was born in Spetses and have always lived here, except for one and a half years when I lived in Melbourne in Australia, where I gave birth to my son.

What is your occupation? I own and run the pension ‘Moriatis’ at the back of the Town Clock Square. I opened Moriatis pension in 1986 – so that is 20 years that we’re celebrating.

Which countries have you visited? As well as Melbourne in Australia, I have spent 20 days in Amsterdam, staying with Dutch friends and 20 days in England (again with friends) touring Sussex.

Which countries would you like to visit? Definitely France and Italy.

Do you have any hobbies/pastimes? I do not have much time on my hands, as I work very hard in the pension, keeping it open all year and in general running order, which I love. We have had many nice visitors from all over the world over the years and I enjoy meeting them.

What's your favourite traditional Greek dish? Moussaka – my mother makes a very good one!

Who would you choose to headline the next Septembr's Armata celebrations? I really enjoyed Alkistis Protopsalti in 2004, now I would like to see Haris Alexiou.

What do you think attracts visitors to Spetses? The beautiful beaches, the crystal clear waters and the clean, fresh air.

In reviewing your article on Dimitra, our family in Salt Lake City, Utah was pleasantly surprised to see her picture and the similarities. I have an Aunt here in the USA who would pass for a twin for Dimitra. My aunts' father, and my granfather was Georgios Thymaras from Spetses.  Any chance she is related to the Thymaras family?
