Where do you live on Spetses? With family, animals or alone? On the road from the town to Ayia Marina, close to the church of Eisodia, with my wife, cats and dogs. 

Present or past occupation: I have been a cobbler (shoemaker) since, before the war in 1938. I left primary school (there was no higher education in those days here) on a Friday and started work as a cobbler, on the following Monday. 

Where are you to be found most of the time? I have lived in Spetses all my life and apart from 2 years+ spent as a prisoner of war in Germany, during the Second World War, I have spent most of my life in my little workshop, where you find me seated today.  

Which Spetses beach do you prefer? My favourite beaches are Ayia Marina and Kouzounos. I spent all my summers on these two beaches, when I was very young. 

What's your favourite view of Spetses? Every view from, and of Spetses I love. If I had to choose though, it would be from Ayia Marina along the coast to Anargyri. 

Which time of year or season best suits you on Spetses - why? I love the spring when the whole island is in bloom. 

Where would you choose to live if not Spetses? Probably Piraeus, where part of my family live.  

If you could start your life again, what career would you choose? I would choose to be a cobbler again! It’s what I love and what I’ve been doing all my life. 

Which country of those you have visited, impressed you the most (other than Greece!)? I would say Austria, particularly Vienna. 

Do you have any hobbies/pastimes? I very much enjoy walking in the hills, which I still do a lot. 

What's your favourite traditional Greek dish? Fish and Horta (wild mountain greens). The healthiest food that you can eat. 

Who would you choose to headline the next Armata celebrations in 2006? Any of the old singers from, remembered from my youth. I do not know any of today’s popular singers. 

Where would you take a friend on a one day visit to Spetses? My favourite area - walking from Ayia Marina, past Kouzounos to the beaches of Anargyri and Paraskevi. 

What, in your view, is the best part about life on Spetses? The best part is being close to the sea, the hills and enjoying the abundance of flowers all over the island. In all my 80 years, I have never wanted to live anywhere else.
