Family History Research
I am hoping that someone may be able to advise on how to go about doing family history research in Spetses
I have family that was from Spetses and I am trying to locate any and all information on them. I am trying to trace our lines to see if we have any living family in Greece as well as learn more about our past. I am unsure how to proceed as I have only a few names and a few dates. I only speak and write English does this mean I will not be able to proceed?
My Great Grandfather was supposed to be from Spetsae/Spetses. Also my Grand-Uncle.
Their names were Dimitrios Prohonas- states he was born in the city of Spetsae in the providence of Spetsae October 14 or 26, 1884. He left Greece and arrived in New York Ellis Island August 16, 1912.
His father's name was Theodore- he was also from Spetsae/Spetses. Also looking for George Prohonas, Katina, Julia. I have seen the names Kirikoula, Sevastia and Evalgelo...not sure what they mean in English if anything.
I am wondering if anyone can help in any way to help me find my family.
Also are their any books or information that can be purchased that talk about the local area and it's history?
Thank you very much!!!!
