I am from Spetses and wanted to chat!!!

Hello everyone!!! I am so happy this site exists!!!  I am from Spetses and grew up there but I 've been living out of Spetses for a little while and I am very homesick so I love being able to stay in contact!!!! I am returning to Spetses however within the next few months and I am so excited!!!! It has always and will always be home to me there!!!! There is no place like Greece!!!!  Last time I was there was 4 years ago and I've seen things have stayed generally the same but I  did see some sprucing up.  How do you all feel about our sweet, quaint, yet happening island? I hope to hear from someone since I still have friends and family there. I have managed to keep in touch with some people but with some its been a bit tougher. We are young and starting our lives, you see... Some I'm sure some  are on the island and some are trying new things. WOw, what a  treat it will be to all meet up again. it's nice to know that someone wants to chat on Spetses! I'm visiting the island at least twice a year. I like being there in winter, spring or the fall. In the summer I'm coming one or two weekends to see my mother who bought a house in Ligoneri 15 years ago and spends two months there in summer. I feel a bit alone when I visit the island, because I don't know anyone except neighbours of my mother in LIgoneri which it is not the most interesting area of the island, I'm afraid. I like more the beaches of Ligoneri, Vrellos, Zogeria and the others hidden ones a bit further on. I'd be grateful if I can meet you and some people leaving in the old harbour or in Spetses village. Hi Joanna,  Sorry to bug you with a question but I have not been able to find the answer ANYWHERE and thought that maybe a local (or ex local!!) would be able to help me. We want to know if there is any sea link/boat/ferry from Spetses to somewhere in the Peloponnese on the East coast of Laconia,  like Livadi, Plaka or Poulithra?  Monemvasia would also be good but that is much further.  Please let me know if you know if that can be done by sea.  Or if there is anyboldy else you think I could ask.  Hope you can help me.

Hi Joanna, I am not from Greece but would love to learn more about it in preparation for a visit there in a couple of years.  My grandfather and cousins were all from Spetses.  The Thymaras family.  Do you know any of them? I grew up in the United States so have only met a few family members but would like to know about them. My cousin Kirk Thymaras visits there every fall.  So does his brother Dimitri and Sister Matina Petropoulos. It sounds like Spetses is a wonderful place to live and visit. Dawna

THe Thymaras Family

Hello Dawna!! Actually I do know some members of the Thymara family and actually my mom's maiden name is Petropoulos but I don't know if there is a relation. THe tHymaras family is Spetses is huge so I'm trying to figure out where to begin. Do you know of any permenant residents of your family in Spetses? The truth is, it's wonderful to live there and I am heading there myself!!!! It is a beautiful life especially if you like tightknit communities and lots of culture!!!! I'm sure you will love it!!! Hi there, Im evan ( dj evan) from Australia. I first visited Spetses in 2001 and its a killa place and planning to go back real soon. The way you write reminds me of the way most Aussies write so im assuming you live in Australia, am I right???  I dj d in Club Glam for a few night when im there and looking forward coming back to the beautiful island. Hey Evan!! Actually I am not in Australia. I am in the United States but thank you for appreciating my writing!!! I  Love Greece and I am actually planning my trip back so I will be there soon!! I am so excited!!! By the way, I used to go to Glam!! I love it!!! How often are you in Spetses? I can't wait to be back on this beautiful island either!!!! Ikaria is beautiful as well!! Its one of my dreams to travel around all the islands, I have so much to see!!!! Are you a DJ by Profession or are you doin git for fun?
