Spetses carnival ('Apokries') just gets bigger and better every year! This year there were many more floats than previous years and many more people than usual got involved. Despite all the weeks of hard work and preparation, there seemed to be plenty of carnival spirit left for the day and maybe just a little bit more than usual. This was most probably due to all the very recent tensions in Greece after the implementation of new austerity measures imposed by the EU with the second bailout. People decided to get on out there and do their best to portray how they felt and made sure that they had a great time whilst doing it too!

Twin House is to be found right in the heart of town, just behind the Clock Tower Square. The outside area is ablaze with colour. Pink bougainvillaea, red and white hibiscus and scarlet geraniums flank the front of the two small buildings. Visitors are welcomed by the scent of the large, sweet smelling jasmine growing by the arched gate, and a view of the giant yukka tree on the back wall. Small is cosy at Twin House, and there is a definite friendly feel to this establishment.
