The settlement of Ayios Anargyrios on Spetses
Anargyri beach: Sun beds and umbrellas galore! This is a great beach with something for everyone.
There's a bus that leaves from the corner of the town beach for the 30 minute ride 'round the coast. It's inexpensive and air-conditioned. The round trip is made by the bus regularly throughout the day, but in high season you should make sure you're at the front of the queue for the last ride back as it tends to get busy and standing all the way isn't fun. The bus drops off and collects from the stop just outside the beach taverna.
You can also get a traditional caique, which leaves in the morning and returns around 5 in the evening. The boat drops off and collects again for the return trip from the rocky end of the beach.
Anargyri beach: Looking west to eastOn the beach you'll find some areas free of umbrellas and sun beds but for those who appreciate a bit more comfort the prices aren't too exorbitant.
Just back from the centre of the beach there is a beach cafe with a bar that servers refreshments and snacks throughout the days.
"I found the beach very pleasant, clean and not too crowded when we visited in July 2004. The beach is partially sandy but I strongly advise beach shoes because those pebbles just aren't foot friendly. The water was gorgeous and you can escape the sun's glare at the back of the beach under the trees if you want a natural alternative to an umbrella." - Kelsey 30/09/04
